ELZS was created by Chaz H. Smith, a former golf teaching professional. Year after year he watched students hit bucket after bucket on the range, while the shots that actually decided their scores happened within 50 yards of the flag.
When his students moved their practice time to the short game, their accuracy and their scores improved. But one problem kept coming up: nobody knew where to land the ball. So Chaz charted it — distance by distance, club by club, green speed by green speed — calibrated with three-piece golf balls over years of work on the practice green.
The result is the Essential Landing Zone System: four charts, one red carpet, and a simple promise — take the guesswork out of chipping and pitching, and make the game more fun.

Accuracy over perfection
You don't need to hit a spot. You need to land inside the carpet.
